Khara Molsbee, soprano, has been heard in a variety of roles throughout the southeastern region. The Mississippi native was recently chosen as 3rd place finalist in the Classical Singer competition. Khara also placed as a semi-finalist in the Opera Birmingham competition and has also been a member of Mobile Opera’s Young Developing Artist Program. She made her opera debut as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Opera Theater. Ms. Molsbee appeared as Angelina in the Singing River Opera’s production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial by Jury. Additional roles and opera scenes include the title role in Rusalka, Magda in The Consul, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Doretta in La Rondine, and the First Lady in The Magic Flute. Ms. Molsbee has performed in oratorio in such works as Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Messiah, both with Gloria Dei in Mobile, Alabama, and the Kleine Orgelmesse of Haydn with Musica Sacra in Mobile.
She recently did post-graduate studies at the University of Alabama with Paul Houghtaling. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of South Alabama where she was a student of Linda Zoghby, and a Master of Music degree from the University of New Orleans. Her coaches include Jerome Shannon, Mitchell Cirker, and David Holkeboer, and she has participated in master classes with Peter Randsman, Kyle Morrero, and William Florescu. In 2012, Khara founded the Gulf Coast School of Music which currently offers musical training and performance opportunities to over 100 students from throughout the Gulf Coast, She is the founder and artist director of The Seasons, a women’s choral ensemble committed to raising funds for local charitable organizations.
